Energy Conservation

As of last October electricity costs here were $365.oo per day !
There are 19 lights in the 7th floor corridor,
24 lights in the 2nd
18 lights in the 9th
12 lights in the 14th.
And no I didn't go to every floor and count, but all of them everywhere are on high beam 24/7.
Is this necessary?
Do unoccupied corridors and spaces need to be lit?
Automatic dimmers? Motion sensors?
Could the disposal chute rooms be on motion sensor?
Ditto the elevators.
Do we really need 44 lights on non-stop in the gym? Can't even turn them off anywhere when you leave.
Could the air-conditioners in there have timer settings?
Has there been an energy audit?

An energy audit is being arranged.
There may be some metering problem or other abnormality contributing to high costs.

I think it is appalling that there is so much wasted electricity. I was not aware that the gym lights cannot be turned off when no-one is in there...this is ridiculous. I also have an issue with the fact that the heating in the hallways is excessive and a further waste of our dollars. On another note, the temperature in the underground parking (P2) during the warmer months seems quite warm considering we are 2 levels below ground. Is there the possibility of cost savings here...if the heat is actually on during these months. This is just scratching the surface of my issues with the waste in the building...

Many of the hall lights have already been fitted with more energy-efficient bulbs.
Fire safety regulations probably limit areas where lighting levels can be lowered.
It would be interesting to know the daily energy costs of other condos around here.

Conservation of Energy-
I have visted the gym over the winter months and have noticed the
air conditioning on full tilt when the room is empty.
Maybe the concierge should check on this in the evening to make sure people are shuting the units off.
